Frequently asked questions
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling martial art that teaches you how to control and submit opponents using leverage and technique — without any striking. It’s one of the safest and most effective ways to build real-world self-defense skills, improve fitness, and gain confidence on and off the mats.
Not at all. You don’t need to be in shape to begin — that’s what training is for. Our classes are beginner-friendly and designed to help you build fitness, confidence, and skill at your own pace. Whether you're just starting out or getting back into it, we’ve got you covered.
We’re a no-gi gym, so no uniform is needed. Wear a tight-fitting t-shirt or rashguard and shorts or tights without zips, pockets, or buttons to keep things safe and comfy. If you don’t have that yet, no worries! Just come in any activewear, and we’ll get you started.
We take kids from 4 years old. Our classes are designed to build confidence, discipline, and coordination. For kids under 6, a parent joins in to help — it’s fun for both of you!
Yes, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is safe — and we take it seriously. Our coaches emphasize control and technique so you can train hard without injuries. Everyone’s here to get better!
Nope! We keep things flexible with no lock-in contracts. Train as much as you want, when you want — and if life changes, you can pause or cancel anytime. We’re here to make training easy, not stressful.
Absolutely. We have a strong, supportive female community, and our co-owner and instructor Rose is always there to help guide and support on the mats. We also run a monthly women’s-only open mat — a relaxed and welcoming space for women to train, connect, and build confidence together.
Absolutely — we offer a full week of free training so you can see what it’s all about. No pressure, just come train and vibe with us.
Yes! We’re all for cross-training and welcome visitors from other gyms. You can casually drop in for a session anytime — just message us beforehand.
We also offer a cross-training membership that gives you one class a week plus access to all our open mats. Or, if you’re just after open mat time, we have an open mat–only membership too. Whatever works best for your schedule and goals.
An open mat is an unstructured training session where you can roll, drill, or work on whatever you like. There’s no formal class — just time for you to train how you want. We believe open mats are one of the best ways to rapidly improve your skills, especially when combined with regular classes. At our gym, we run open mats every single day to maximize skill development and build stronger connections with your training partners.
